"Winning the Champions League" - Divock Origi opens up on winning the European cup
Liverpool forward Divock Origi has said that winning the Champions League back in 2019 was a dream come true.
The Reds faced Tottenham Hotspur in the final, which took place at the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid.
Jurgen Klopp's side secured a 2-0 victory over Spurs on the night. Mohamed Salah and Origi were Liverpool's goalscorers.
The Belgium international has said in a recent interview that his boyhood dream came to fruition when the full-time whistle was blown.
"Winning the Champions League was a kids dream - that feeling you have when you visualise it as a kid - the whole scene was crazy - to come on and score made it even more special. Time stopped for me," Origi told the club's official website, as quoted by Anfield Watch on Twitter.
Anfield Watch Verdict
Seeing Liverpool win the Champions League back in 2019 was brilliant. The club had not won the European Cup since 2005, so it was good to see Klopp's team end a 14-year drought.
On another note, Liverpool could win the Champions League again this season. Klopp's side will face Villarreal in the semi-finals.
Once a team gets to the latter stages of any competition, they should believe that they can claim the trophy.
But, Liverpool have been one of the best sides in the world for a few years now, so they should be even more confident of winning the 2021-22 Champions League trophy.
The first leg between Liverpool and Villarreal will be played at Anfield on the 27th of April. The second leg will take place at the Estadio de la Cerámica on the 3rd of May.
Only time will tell which side will progress to the final.
