"Will be ready" - Peter Crouch identifies Jurgen Klopp's successor
Back in October 2015, Jurgen Klopp became the manager of Liverpool Football Club.
Under the guidance of the German, Liverpool have won the two biggest trophies in club football - the UEFA Champions League and the Premier League title.
But, all good things do eventually come to an end.
Former Red Peter Crouch believes that when Klopp does depart Anfield, Steven Gerrard will replace him.
The 54-year-old's current contract expires in the summer of 2024.
Gerrard, a Liverpool legend, is currently the manager of Rangers. The Scouser's current contract also expires in the summer of 2024.
As quoted by the Mirror, Crouch told the Daily Mail the following: “Let’s not mess about — here is Liverpool’s next manager. He has to be.
“Jurgen Klopp has that job for as long as he wants it, but he is not going to stay around forever.
“At some point, his family might want to move back to Germany. When that happens, Gerrard will be ready.”
ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT
We would not be against Gerrard replacing Klopp in the future. The reality is, the former Red has proven that he is a good manager.
Gerrard's Rangers won the 2020-21 Scottish Premiership. Also, as we have already pointed out, the 41-year-old is a Liverpool legend.
Gerrard made 710 appearances for the Reds' first-team. Therefore, the Anfield faithful would get behind the appointment.
But, only time will tell if Gerrard is to replace Klopp at Anfield.
