Trent Alexander-Arnold has handed out the highest praise to Liverpool teammate Mo Salah. Here's what he plans on telling his grandkids.

Trent Alexander-Arnold has dished out the highest praise to Mo Salah in an interview with beIN Sports this week. The Liverpool star made it clear that it's not the forward's 'goals and assists' that leaves him in awe, however.

Of course, those goals and assists have been in the headlines lately. Salah notched both his 200th Liverpool goal - becoming only the fifth player to do so - and bagged Premier League goal no.150 at the weekend.

There's no question that he's one of the finest goalscorers of his generation and one of Liverpool's all-time greats. That's not what's on Alexander-Arnold's mind when it comes to Salah's legacy, though.

“The way he applies himself to the game, the respect he’s got for the game is the true testament to what he’s achieved," he told beIN Sports. “The goals and assists and the numbers that he does will always speak for themselves.”

“But when I’m old enough and lucky enough to have kids and grandkids, it’s not his goals and assists I’ll talk about.

“It’ll be the way he applied himself and the inspiration he was to the players around him.”

You can't really get higher praise than that from a teammate. Not only does Alexander-Arnold appreciate the numbers but he really appreciates just how hard Salah has worked to achieve them.

Having players like that at the club is invaluable. Alexander-Arnold literally uses the word 'inspiration' here and that's coming from a player who has played alongside Salah the entire time the Egyptian has been at Anfield.

The impact he'll have on the youngsters coming through will be on a whole other level. The likes of Ben Doak, Harvey Elliott and Kaide Gordon, for instance - young players in his position - cannot be overstated.

Salah's legacy at Anfield is up there with some of the very best to wear the shirt and as Alexander-Arnold says, it's for far more than just the goals and assists.
