"Where are these tickets" - Jurgen Klopp on Champions League ticket allocation
Jurgen Klopp has criticised UEFA for the ticket prices and allocation for this year's Champions League final.
Speaking in his pre-Tottenham press conference, as cited by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, Klopp questioned UEFA over the ticket prices and allocation for the UCL final but praised Liverpool fans for still following the team despite the restrictions.
"It's so touching," said Klopp. "When you see the ticket prices and the amount you get - we get only 20,000 for the UCL final. What?! Where are these tickets?! I could not be more thankful for what the people are doing.
"I really hope they can all make it somehow to Paris and create an incredible atmosphere. I think Paris is big enough that you can go there without a ticket and have a good time and behave yourself in the best possible mood.
"If you can't get there, watch it here in any kind of surrounding. It will be fantastic."
Anfield Watch Verdict
The ticket allocation for the Champions League final is an absolute joke. More than half of the tickets available will not be going to supporters of Real Madrid or Liverpool.
The Stade de France, the stadium hosting the final, has a capacity of 80,000. Real Madrid and Liverpool have both been allocated 19,618 tickets each.
The free public ballot makes up 16,000 tickets, while the remaining seats are for corporate sponsors and 'family and friends' of UEFA/the clubs.
Spirit of Shankly summed up it perfectly in their open letter to UEFA, as cited by Oddschanger.
"It's time UEFA recognised the power of fans and the importance of fans above sponsorships."
Will UEFA listen to the concern of fans? Of course not. That would make them lose money and we all know that's all they care about.
The only way this ever changes is if clubs stand up and fight for their fans. Unfortunately, they're all billionaires too and all the majority of them care about is money also.
