"When my agent first told me" - Sadio Mane on his move to Bayern
Liverpool winger Sadio Mane has opened up on his summer move to Bayern Munich.
The Senegal international represented the Reds' first-team for six seasons. But, Mane has now moved on.
The 30-year-old revealed that when he first heard about Bayern Munich's interest, he was "immediately excited".
As quoted by Anfield Watch on Twitter, he told BILD the following: "When my agent first told me about Bayern's interest, I was immediately excited. I saw myself there right away. For me it was the right club at the right time.
“It's one of the biggest clubs in the world and the team is always fighting for every title. So for me it was a very good idea and the right decision to come here.
"My agent told me that there were enquiries from other clubs. That's part of the business. But I got the feeling right away when Bayern presented their plan to me. I found myself in Bayern's plan."
Anfield Watch Verdict
Bayern Munich are a top club. They have won the past 10 Bundesliga titles, which highlights just how dominant they are in their homeland.
Then again, Mane has departed a team that competed for the quadruple last season. So, we would hardly say that he has signed for a better side.
But, it is what it is. Mane has moved and so have Liverpool. However, it will feel strange seeing the Reds lineup without the winger next season.
Mane has been a mainstay in Jurgen Klopp's side over the years. He made 269 appearances for Liverpool's first-team (whilst Klopp was in charge).
Therefore, Mane's departure does somewhat mark the end of an era.
