What to expect from Liverpool's transfer window this season

The 2022 summer transfer window is open and Liverpool have been busy. In today's article, we will be taking a look at who has arrived/stayed at the club.

Joe Gomez - Long term extension 

Gomez is set to remain at Liverpool until 2027. The 25-year-old is no longer the first or second-choice centre-back for Liverpool, but he has decided to sign on with the club.  

Sadio Mane - Off to Bayern 

After rejecting the $26 million bid for Sadio Mane from Bayern Munich, Liverpool made it clear that they wanted a certain fee for the winger. Two weeks later on June 21st, it was confirmed that 30-year-old Mane will soon become part of the Munich squad for $43 million. Liverpool fans were saddened by the loss of the legendary player who scored 120 goals in his 269 appearances for the Reds. Mane’s outstanding consistency paired with his intensity was one of the reasons why many punters decided to sign up to betting sites in the first place. The Senegal international is set to be the main man for Bayern.

Darwin Nunez - Out with Mane in with Nunez 

Nunez was finally announced as a Liverpool player on June 14th and has been making the headlines ever since. Liverpool had to pay Benfica an astounding $84 million and around another $21 million in add-ons, making this the current club record to be spent on a player.  Nunez had clearly left his mark on Klopp when Benfica faced Liverpool in the Champions League quarter-finals last season. He scored a goal in each leg. After losing Mane, Klopp needed a suitable replacement which was no easy task.  Nunez is set to become a giant star, at just 23 years old he showcases great finishing skills, aggression as well as pace which makes him a perfect fit to run alongside Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz. 

Calvin Ramsay - Young talent  

Klopp is known for his young talent nurturing skills and has been one to allow younger players the chance to shine on the field. At just 18 years of age, Ramsay was reported to be eyed by several Premier League clubs, but the pull to join Liverpool was too strong. 

Mohamed Salah - To stay or go? 

With just one-year left on his contract, Liverpool had earlier stated that they were open to selling Salah. After months of being locked in talks with the winger for a new deal, it was reported he might leave the club to join Real Madrid for $74 million.   Thankfully the move didn’t go through and Salah has recently signed a contract that will have him playing for Liverpool until 2025. The Egyptian international and Nunez look to be a troubling front for the rest of the Premier League teams.
