West Ham-Liverpool preview: team news, TV, kick-off time, referee & VAR

Liverpool will be aiming to get back to winning ways quickly as they head to London for the second time in a week, this time to take on West Ham United in the Saturday lunchtime kick-off.

The Reds come into the game on the back of a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Everton in the Merseyside Derby on Wednesday night, which all but ended their Premier League title aspirations.

To keep any vanishing hopes alive, Jurgen Klopp's side must win all of their remaining games to be in any position to capitalise should there be any major slip-ups from both Arsenal and Manchester City.

West Ham, meanwhile, aren't in the best form themselves. They lost 5-2 away at Crystal Palace in their last game and have won just one of the last eight Premier League games at home.

Here's your West Ham-Liverpool preview.

WEST HAM VS LIVERPOOL HEAD-TO-HEAD RECORD

Liverpool have a good record in the Premier League against West Ham.

Across their 55 games, Liverpool have won 35 compared to the Hammers' 10 (10 draws).

The Reds have won nine of their last 10 matches against West Ham in all competitions, with the Hammers' last win coming in November 2021 (3-2 at the London Stadium).

In fact, under Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool have only won more against Crystal Palace (13) than against this Saturday's opposition (12).

This season, Liverpool have already beaten West Ham twice at Anfield (3-1 in the Premier League and 5-1 in the League Cup) and this will be the 11th time they will have faced the Hammers three or more times in a single campaign.

However, they've never managed to beat them three times in any of the previous ten.

LIVERPOOL TEAM NEWS

Jurgen Klopp has a fairly clean bill of health heading to the London Stadium, with forward Cody Gakpo set to return after becoming a father during the week.

Striker Diogo Jota will miss out, though, having been ruled out for around two weeks with a hip injury.

Right-back Conor Bradley is among the absentees and will be out for several weeks, while winger Ben Doak is still sidelined despite closing in on a return.

Joel Matip and Thiago Alcantara will miss the remainder of the season.

WEST HAM TEAM NEWS

For the Hammers, their top goalscorer Jarrod Bowen must undergo a late fitness test having missed last weekend’s defeat at Crystal Palace with a lower back injury.

Defenders Nayef Aguerd (ankle) and Konstantinos Mavropanos (knock) also sat out that trip to Selhurst Park through injury, and are set to undergo tests ahead of kick-off on Saturday.

LIVERPOOL PREDICTED LINEUP

Klopp made a number of changes for the Merseyside Derby in midweek and may need to rotate again on Saturday given the quick turnaround between fixtures.

At back, after his disappointing showing, Ibrahima Konate could give way to Jarell Quansah, while Kostas Tsimikas and Joe Gomez may come in at full-back to offer more freshness.

Both Wataru Endo and Harvey Elliott may return after only featuring off the bench at Goodison, while Ryan Gravenberch could also come in after his goal against Fulham.

Up top, Klopp isn't exactly spoiled for choice but you would expect Gakpo to start, possibly up front in place of Darwin Nunez.

WEST HAM VS LIVERPOOL SCORE PREDICTION

Neither team is in good form coming into this game, and with this being Liverpool's fourth away game on the bounce, this could be another major challenge for Klopp's men.

But after the disappointing nature of the defeat to Everton, you would expect the Reds to show more fight. But whether they have enough left in the tank is another question entirely.
