West Ham team news: Jarrod Bowen in fitness battle ahead of Liverpool clash

Liverpool's hopes of returning to winning ways during this Saturday's clash with West Ham United at the London Stadium could hinge on a crucial fitness update from Hammers boss David Moyes.

The London club have hit a worrying run of form and could be without three key players for the visit of Jurgen Klopp's side in the early lunchtime kick-off.

After their 2-0 defeat in the Merseyside derby on Wednesday night, Klopp's men have seen their title aspirations all but evaporate, leaving them with the formidable task of winning every remaining fixture to keep even a glimmer of hope alive. With mounting pressure and minimal room for error, the Reds are now poised for a fierce battle at the London Stadium.

Meanwhile, West Ham face their own set of challenges. Their 5-2 defeat at the hands of Crystal Palace underscored their struggles amid ongoing concerns over their home form, with just one win in their last eight Premier League fixtures at the London Stadium.

Adding to their woes has been a lower back injury sustained by top goalscorer Jarrod Bowen.

While he played through the pain during the Hammers' exit from the Europa League at the hands of Xabi Alonso's Bayer Leverkusen, he missed their recent trip to Selhurst Park.

The England winger now faces a race against time to be fit for the Liverpool clash.

West Ham injuries

Doubts over Bowen's fitness will make Moyes sweat the most. The 27-year-old's ability to stretch defences, provide incisive runs and deliver crucial goals has been instrumental in West Ham's success this season, making his presence indispensable in such a pivotal encounter.

However, the forward isn't the Irons' only potential injury absentee.

Defensive stalwarts Nayef Aguerd (ankle) and Konstantinos Mavropanos (knock) are also racing against the clock to prove their availability for the Liverpool showdown.

In their absence against Palace, Kurt Zouma and Angelo Ogbonna (who was hooked at half time) stood in as they conceded five goals.

The silver lining for West Ham in that game was Kalvin Phillips' return off the bench after his thigh injury.
