"We're trying to peform" - Virgil van Dijk after Liverpool's loss to Napoli
Liverpool centre-back Virgil van Dijk has given his verdict on the club's 4-1 loss to Napoli at the San Paolo last night.
The Reds were 4-0 down after 47 minutes of action. However, Luis Diaz managed to pull a goal back for Liverpool.
Post-game, Van Dijk said that his teammates we're trying their best against Napoli, but they just couldn't get going.
As quoted by AW's Twitter account, he told the club's official website the following: “Stick together, don't point fingers. Everyone knows that everyone can do better. What I said, we're not robots, we're trying to perform and you can have bad moments.
“It's how you deal with them and now we'll definitely have a good look at what happened tonight together, speak with each other and focus on the game ahead of us.
“It's good for us that there's a game quite quickly after this and hopefully (we) get a great performance and result.”
Anfield Watch Verdict
Liverpool competed for the quadruple last season. So, the expectations on Jurgen Klopp's team are quite high.
But, as we have pointed out across our website today, Liverpool have had a very slow start to the campaign.
The worst part is, the Reds don't look like improving anytime soon. Liverpool are going to have to show some resilience in the coming weeks.
The pressure is certainly on them. Klopp needs to find a way to get his team performing again, otherwise it is going to be a very long campaign.
