"We’ll see" - Liverpool target talks about his future as Reds make first contact

Monaco's Aurelien Tchouameni has spoken about his future amid rumours he could be joining Liverpool or Real Madrid in the summer.

Speaking about his future, as cited by Sport Witness, Tchouameni said that 'many things can happen' during the transfer window.

“I have a contract with Monaco until 2024, with an option until 2025, we’ll see what the future holds,” said Tchouaméni.

“In the transfer windows, many things can happen. There is my case and that of other players, some at the end of their contracts, others who have interest in other places. We are focused on Lille.

“We’re going on vacation, and we’ll see when we get back, who they’ll be when we get back. Why not stay and play the Champions League?

"The elimination in the previous round against Shakhtar got stuck in my throat. Playing the Champions League with Monaco is not something that displeases me.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

According to Fabrizio Romano, in his monthly column for Anfield Watch, Tchouameni is currently being monitored by Liverpool.

He also goes on to confirm that the Reds have held talks with the Monaco midfielder's agent amid a potential transfer this summer.

However, Romano says that the €45m price tag set last summer is no longer valid and that a far higher offer will be needed to prise Tchouameni away from France.

Liverpool are not the only club interested in the 22-year-old though, with Real Madrid set to be their main rivals in the race for Tchouameni's signature.

With it looking likely that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner could be departing from Anfield this summer, Tchouameni would be a welcomed addition to the squad.

It has also been reported that Liverpool are tracking Borussia Dortmund's Jude Bellingham but it's understood that the German side will not let him leave in this upcoming transfer window.

Who knows, maybe we sign Tchouameni this summer and Bellingham next summer. We can dream, right?
