"We will compete for all four" - Roberto Firmino ahead of the new campaign

Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino has opened up on what he would like to achieve this season.

The 2021-22 campaign was a success for the Reds. Jurgen Klopp's side secured the League Cup and FA Cup.

However, there is no denying that the season could have ended on a slightly happier note for Liverpool.

The Reds just missed out on securing both the Premier League title and Champions League.

With that being the case, Firmino is determined to challenge for the quadruple once again.

As quoted by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, he told the club's official website the following: "I feel grateful for last season. I don’t want to diminish the achievement of the two trophies, but we were chasing all four and unfortunately it wasn’t to be. Who knows this season?

"We’ll go after all four trophies again, but it’s about taking things step by step, working very hard to get there. Of course it’s possible and our focus is to win all four trophies.

"We will compete for all four, but it depends on the work we do and how we progress. Our focus is to compete in and win all four competitions.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

Last season was brilliant to watch simply because every game mattered. Therefore, we would love to see Liverpool challenge for the quadruple once again.

But, it is certainly not easy to be in for all the major honours in the game. We do have to be realistic that it is unlikely to happen again for quite some time.

As long as Liverpool are challenging for one of the Premier League title or Champions League, we will be satisfied. They are the two biggest trophies in club football after all.
