"We should not forget" - Jurgen Klopp on Harvey Elliott

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has praised Reds midfielder Harvey Elliott.

The 19-year-old was very good for Liverpool in the early parts of the 2021-22 campaign. However, Elliott suffered a serious ankle injury against Leeds United at Elland Road back in September 2021.

As a result, he missed a total of 30 games last season. But, Klopp has made it clear that Elliott is ready to go ahead of the 2022-23 campaign.

"We should not forget that last season, in the first four games, Harvey Elliott was the best player. He was outstanding," he told Goal, as quoted by Anfield Watch on Twitter.

“Then he had a bad injury, came back, (he was) high and then low. Normal for a young player, and normal after a long injury. He looks sharp now, he’s back, and like everybody he needs luck."

Anfield Watch Verdict

It is brilliant to hear that Elliott is looking sharp in training. It will be interesting to see where the midfielder sits in Klopp's plans.

Elliott was a starter for the Reds in the early stages of last season. Klopp is not short of midfield options (Jordan Henderson, Thiago Alcantara, Fabinho, Naby Keita, Curtis Jones and Elliott).

Therefore, the Englishman might not be in the German's starting XI to begin with next season. But, he will get plenty of opportunity to put his name forward.

Liverpool play in the Premier League, Champions League, League Cup and FA Cup. So, providing Elliott stays fit, he should play a key role for the Reds next season.

We wish the youngster all the best ahead of the new campaign. We can't wait to see the Reds back in action.
