"We realised we were at a really low point" - Jurgen Klopp on postponed fixtures

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has given his opinion on his team's form so far this season.

The Reds have struggled in the early parts of the 2022-23 campaign. In terms of the Premier League, Liverpool have only accumulated 10 points from a possible 21.

The Reds did appear to turn a corner after defeating Ajax 2-1 at Anfield in the Champions League back in mid-September.

However, due to the Queen's death, Liverpool did not play for almost three weeks after the aforementioned clash.

Klopp believes that the postponement of top-flight fixtures meant the Reds could not build on their solid performance against Ajax.

As quoted by Anfield Watch on Twitter, he told the club's official website the following: "Before and after the Ajax game, we realised we were at a really low point and we knew we had to change. We didn't play Wolves or Chelsea - it means we couldn't pick anything up and keep it from the Ajax game.

"Then we played Brighton, a really good team and we conceded two early goals. We had to adapt to the situations - we went 3-2 up but then we didn't control the game. We had moments but we didn't take them and we left the door open.

"Had we won the Brighton game it would have been a different feeling but with similar problems. We have to do pretty much everything better, and we have to do everything consistently better."

Anfield Watch Verdict

Klopp does make a fair point. Liverpool played really well against Ajax.

But, the Reds did not have an opportunity to build on what they achieved against the Dutch side.

In saying that, Liverpool still had to perform better than what they did against Brighton. Conceding three goals at home is never acceptable.
