"We know what's at stake" - Jurgen Klopp ahead of Man United clash
Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has opened up ahead of Liverpool's top-flight clash against Manchester United, which is taking place at Old Trafford tonight.
The Reds have had a slow start to the 2022-23 Premier League campaign. Liverpool have drawn their opening two matches of the season.
With that being the case, Klopp knows what is at stake heading into tonight's game against Manchester United.
"We expect the highest motivated team and a really good football team on top of that, by the way. Either way, the message is to prepare the game in the best possible way," he told Sky Sports, as quoted by Anfield Watch's Twitter account.
"In the end it's all about the boys to bring it on the pitch. In all media everywhere, everybody will remind you about the results we had last year but they will not help for next year. We know what's at stake and I'm pretty sure we'll be ready for it."
Anfield Watch Verdict
We completely understand where Klopp is coming from. The reality is, Liverpool can't afford to drop too many points if they wish to challenge for the Premier League title.
Manchester City have won four of the past five titles. So, Liverpool really need to claim the three points tonight if they are to win the biggest trophy in England this season.
The Citizens have had a decent start to the campaign. They have secured seven points from a possible nine.
A victory for Liverpool tonight will take them within two points of Manchester City.
