Liverpool midfielder Fabinho has given his thoughts on the club's latest victory over Newcastle United.

The Reds defeated the Magpies 2-1 at Anfield last night. Alexander Isak gave the visitors the lead during the first half.

However, second half goals from Roberto Firmino and Fabio Carvalho ensure that Liverpool secured the three points.

Fabinho was pleased with how Liverpool never gave up against Newcastle.

"We keep trying, we keep pushing. I don't know if we played really good football but in the end we just tried to put the ball in the box and try to score a goal," he told Liverpoolfc.com, as quoted by AW's Twitter account.

"It's important to have some players like (James) Millie because he was always pushing us like, 'Come on, boys, until the end, keep pushing. We need to believe.'

"We kept trying and in the end I think our team was tired but we have to push to the end. I didn't know if the game would end before the corner or not but we believed until the end and fought. I think we deserved this goal."

Anfield Watch Verdict

Fabinho is absolutely spot on. It would have been very easy for the players to give up.

Newcastle defended quite well. But, the Reds did not stop attacking and they were rewarded with a stoppage-time winner in the end.

We can't believe that supporters left the stadium early. Liverpool have scored plenty of last-minute winners under Klopp.

So, you can't be leaving the stadium early. Overall, last night was a great evening for everyone associated with the club.

Our focus now shifts to Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday.
