"We have to" - Fabinho has given his honest thoughts on the Premier League title race
Liverpool midfielder Fabinho has given his opinion on the Premier League title race.
The Reds defeated Burnley 1-0 at Turf Moor yesterday to stay within touching distance of league leaders Manchester City.
Liverpool (sitting in second-place) are nine points behind the Citizens with a game in hand. Jurgen Klopp's side will face Pep Guardiola's team at the Etihad Stadium on the 9th of April.
As quoted by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, Fabinho told Sky Sports the following after Liverpool's victory over Burnley: "We have to think game after game. We play every three days with other competitions as well. Everyone has to be ready, we don't have injured players and that is good for us."
Anfield Watch Verdict
Fabinho is spot on. Liverpool need to stay in the present. There's no point looking too far ahead.
The reality is, Manchester City are the favourites to secure the title. But, if Liverpool can just focus on what they can control, they will give themselves every possible chance of claiming the trophy come the end of the season.
On another note, Fabinho was excellent against Burnley yesterday. The 28-year-old scored and registered a WhoScored player rating of 7.57 against the Clarets.
Klopp was pleased with Fabinho's efforts against Burnley.
"Timing, top Fab in that moment," Klopp said after the match, as quoted by Tribal Football.
"He was there again after the save, a great goal in a very difficult game. All good, let's keep going."
Liverpool's midfield has been hit injuries at different times this season. However, the Reds have been able to rely on Fabinho.
The Brazil international has scored six goals and registered one assist in 27 appearances. Hopefully Fabinho can keep up his good form and propel Liverpool forwards for the remainder of the season.
