"We forget" - Virgil van Dijk praises Trent Alexander-Arnold's mentality
Reds centre-back Virgil van Dijk has praised Trent Alexander-Arnold's mentality.
The Liverpool right-back has not been at his best so far this season. However, Alexander-Arnold did play well against Rangers at Anfield earlier this week.
The 23-year-old scored and registered a WhoScored player rating of 8.28 against the Scottish Premiership side.
With that being the case, Van Dijk lauded Alexander-Arnold during a recent interview.
As quoted by Anfield Watch on Twitter, he told the BBC the following: "We forget about the wellbeing of players, we forget about that stuff and everyone is talking about how we should all accept it.
"For him (Trent) to just carry on working - not only him but other players as well - and deal with it and show a reaction is what we need, all of us. To do that I think it's important that we back him and the manager and the club and the fans."
Anfield Watch Verdict
Alexander-Arnold is a credit to himself. The right-back would know better than anyone that he has not been at his best so far this season.
But, that's how football goes sometimes. No one can play to the best of their ability all of the time.
Alexander-Arnold will become a better player as a result of the challenges that he has faced so far this season.
The Scouser looked back to his best against Rangers. Alexander-Arnold was a threat going forward and he defended when he needed to.
We wish the the youngster all the best for the remainder of the campaign.
