"We didn't have the squad before" - Jurgen Klopp on reaching the FA Cup final

Jurgen Klopp has talked about Liverpool's journey to the FA Cup final.

Speaking ahead of the FA Cup final against Chelsea, as cited by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, Klopp talked about how in previous years he didn't have the squad to reach the final of the competition.

"What is clear is that when you start a journey, you cannot have it all. We didn't have the squad before. We had to make changes. Some teams when they make changes you don't realise. It was the case for us this year sometimes," said Klopp.

"The most important thing is to qualify for the Champions League because it gives you resources and the chance to sign players who want the Champions League.

"So it was never that we never wanted to get the final - we just never had manpower to do it."

Anfield Watch Verdict

Liverpool have been very fortunate this season that no key players have picked up injuries. That is one of the main reasons why we've managed to go so far in every competition this campaign.

Also, the additions of Luis Diaz and Ibrahima Konate have added so much class to our starting XI and bench.

The pair have come straight in, adapted to their new system and teammates. Something that usually takes half a year has taken these two a few weeks.

Especially Diaz. The fact that the Colombian came in during the January transfer window is still mind-boggling. He plays like he has been a part of this squad for three seasons.

With a full pre-season under his belt, Diaz is going to be an absolute monster, which is hard to comprehend as he's already tearing up the Premier League currently.

If he adds goals to his game then he could well be in with an early shout for the player of the season next campaign.
