"We are not afraid of them" - Benfica's Darwin Nunez hopeful of Anfield comeback

Despite giving Benfica a glimmer of hope in the Champions League tie, Darwin Nunez is not happy with the result against Liverpool. 

Speaking after the game, as cited by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, Nunez said that despite scoring, he will 'go home sad' after Liverpool beat Benfica 3-1 at the Estádio do Sport Lisboa e Benfica.

"Liverpool are a great team, but we are not afraid of them. We will work to get a good result in the second leg. I'm not happy that I scored, what I want here is to win titles, not score goals. I go home sad," said Nunez.

"Yes, we wanted more, but it was not possible. We are confident, this was demonstrated in the second half."

This is a great mentality to have for a 22-year-old. Even though he scored and in the long run it will look good to have a goal against Liverpool on his resume, the Uruguyan is more concerned about the impact of the result on his team.

Nunez was by far Benfica's best player against the Reds and he was the only one causing problems for Liverpool's defence.

Apart from his goal, which was gifted to him by a shocking Ibrahima Konate mistake, the 22-year-old didn't really find himself with a clear cut chance.

However, he did take the goal well and he has given Benfica a slim chance to produce a miracle comeback at Anfield.

Speaking before the Benfica game, as cited by LFC Transfer Room, Liverpool's manager, Jurgen Klopp, praised the Uruguayan striker, calling him a 'top boy'.

"He's a good striker," said Klopp. "The next one from Uruguay, I don't know how they play together - Cavani, Suarez, and him. In one team, that's probably a challenge as well to put that in place. But, it's a top, top boy."

The Reds have previously been linked with Nunez and their most recent acquisition from the Primeira Liga has been an instant hit so who knows, we could see Nunez in the red of Liverpool one day.
