Wataru Endo has his eyes on glory as he adapts to life at Liverpool

Wataru Endo has revealed that he is beginning to feel settled at Liverpool following his summer move from Stuttgart.

Endo's arrival back in August closed the chapter of Liverpool's problematic hunt for a defensive midfielder, which saw moves for long-term targets Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia collapse in dramatic fashion.

The 30-year-old was then forced to start his Liverpool career right in the deep end, playing much of his first two games in a side that was reduced to 10 men.

Such circumstances meant the Japanese international endured a difficult start to life on Merseyside, struggling to deal with the intensity and speed of the Premier League during his early cameos.

However, signs are showing that Endo is beginning to adapt to life in England, putting in impressive performances as of late - most notably in the League Cup against Leicester, for which he earned much fan acclaim.

Now, having dealt with adversity, Endo is ready to push on at Liverpool, hoping to prove to Reds fans just why Jurgen Klopp went to sign him in the first place.

"It was a surprise for Liverpool fans for me to come here, but the manager knew me very well as a player," said Endo. "That was a very important thing to me.

"After I first came here I have had some conversations with him. The manager told me that he had known of me when I was at Stuttgart. And he told me 'we are so offensive as a team, we need a number six, a defensive midfielder'. That's why I came here.

"The first couple of games were quite difficult because a lot of the time we were down to 10 men! When we're training I just try to do my best, the intensity and physicality in England are totally different to Germany. But now I think I have adapted, and now I'm showing my best on the pitch. That is the most important thing for me.

"I feel a lot more comfortable when I'm playing now. Also it helps that the other players also know me better. I feel much better."

Endo was one of four midfield signings Liverpool made in the summer as the club's engine room experienced a much-needed overhaul.

And with Klopp's side looking like revitalised so far this season, not least due to their new look midfield, Endo already has his eyes on silverware.

"This season, of course I would like to win the Premier League, the Europa League also," he added.

"That is what our fans want us to achieve. That is a possibility. We want to challenge for titles as much as possible."
