However to do just that won’t be a walk in the park according to the Dutchman, who reminisced how tough Ipswich can be despite their league position.

“This was definitely a game which underlined the saying that there are no easy fixtures in the Premier League. Ipswich made such a fight of it and made it so difficult for us that we had to search within ourselves to find the answers,” Slot said.

Curtis Jones will miss the Anfield clash due to the knock he picked up in the Champions League victory over Lille on Tuesday.

The midfielder joins Diogo Jota and Joe Gomez as options unavailable to Slot for today’s clash.

He has played every minute of his team’s 21 Premier League and seven Champions League fixtures so far this season.

Looking ahead to the clash, Van Dijk addressed the importance of staying focused in his programme notes amid the brilliant position Liverpool find themselves in currently.

“We are all working our socks off every single day and we are approaching each game with the right mindset.

“We know we are in a good position and our form is good, but we also know how many big challenges are ahead of us, and the moment you lose sight of that fact is the moment you come unstuck,” Van Dijk said.
