Virgil van Dijk wants ANOTHER Liverpool contract
Liverpool have finally secured the signing of Virgil van Dijk. The captain’s contract was due to expire in summer 2025 and negotiations had dragged on for practically the entire season.
But hot on the heels of Mohamed Salah’s two-year renewal announcement, the captain has now also been tied down to 2027. Thursday was a great day for Liverpool fans as the long-anticipated new contract for Van Dijk was confirmed.

The 33-year-old has been in imperious form for Arne Slot’s table-toppers this term and the Reds are closing in on a second Premier League title since 2020.
Van Dijk has provided the backbone for successful Liverpool teams which have won the Champions League, Premier League, FIFA Club World Cup, FA Cup, EFL Cup and more since arriving from Southampton in January 2018.
Van Dijk can star until 2029
Now his reign is set to continue until 2027 and if recent reports are to be believed, even that might not signal the end of Van Dijk at Anfield.
âVan Dijk is said to see no reason why he cannot perform at the top level for a further three or four years,â writes Lewis Steele in the Daily Mail.
Given his latest contract - worth ÂŁ400,000 per week - takes him to the two-year mark, there could be another extension in the offing so long as Van Dijk maintains his level.
VVD the best centre-back around
He will turn 34 before the summer is out but is already making plans to captain the Netherlands at the 2026 World Cup.
Van Dijkâs appetite and his excellence remain undiminished and - in the eyes of reported Liverpool transfer target Dean Huijsen - is the best central defender in the world.
