Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk has revealed how he tries to look at an attacker's eyes when defending 1vs1 in order to try and win the ball or stop a shot at goal.

The Dutchman is back in the swing of things this season after his ACL injury last year and he has looked back to his supreme best in recent months.

Indeed, one of his best attributes is how well he can defend when it's 1 on 1 and he has revealed what techniques he uses to aid him with that:

Anfied Watch Verdict

It's quite impressive that during a fast-paced Premier League game, for example, Virgil van Dijk has the presence of mind to look into an attacker's eyes and see where the forward might be heading.

Opposing players must find it so difficult coming up against a player of his calibre and it's clear that very few get the better of him.

With him back, Liverpool look so much better.
