Virgil van Dijk's INCREDIBLE record comes to an end
Liverpool managed to rescue a point against Arsenal at the Emirates on Sunday.
After the Gunners took the lead within the opening 10 minutes, a close-range header from Virgil van Dijk got Liverpool back in the match.
Arsenal went 2-1 up following a Mikel Merino goal just before half time but Mohamed Salah was able to rescue a point for Liverpool, netting his 10th goal against Arsenal for the Reds in the 81st minute.

The game was undoubtedly the biggest test Arne Slot has faced since becoming Liverpool’s head coach and his side sit only a point behind Premier League leader Manchester City after the draw.
Van Dijk marked his 100th appearance as Liverpool captain with a goal but the result brought an end to an impressive run for the Dutchman.
Van Dijk’s winning streak comes to an end
Although he doesn’t get on the scoresheet every week for Liverpool, the Reds’ skipper has scored some very important goals since he arrived in 2018.
In fact, Sunday’s draw to Arsenal was the first time that the 33-year-old has scored for the Reds and they haven’t gone on to win the match.
Van Dijk had scored for Liverpool in 22 games and the Reds had gone on to win all of them up.
This streak represents the fourth longest in the club’s history, with the longest being set by Mo Salah between 2018-2020, with 43 games.
Ian Callaghan sits in third place with 23 games between 1967-1972 and Sam Raybould completes the list with 24 from 1904-1906.
Van Dijk’s contract situation
Although Virgil’s impressive streak has now come to an end the Liverpool skipper is still enjoying a fantastic season.
The Dutchman has played every minute of the Reds’ Premier League campaign so far, but this season could be his last at Anfield.
Van Dijk’s contract is set to expire at the end of this season and, although the defender recently confirmed discussions were taking place, his future is currently uncertain.
Liverpool have been linked with a number of central defenders and for many, it seems like a real possibility that Virgil could leave.
Only time will tell whether Van Dijk will remain at Anfield beyond this season but the Anfield faithful will want him to continue his good form and to carry on finding the back of the net regardless.
