Virgil van Dijk answers BANNED Liverpool contract question
Virgil van Dijk raised eyebrows recently as he answered a banned question about his contract. The Dutchman isn't supposed to talk, say Liverpool.
Virgil van Dijk's future is a massive topic in football right now. That's particularly the case at Liverpool, for obvious reasons.

Van Dijk can leave on a free transfer next June, meaning he's free to agree on terms with a non-English club from January 1st. That's now just one month away.
Hasn't that come around quick?
This means Van Dijk is permanently facing speculation about his future. Liverpool know this, of course, and instruct journalists not to ask questions about his contract or what might happen. The captain certainly isn't supposed to answer any.
However, a journalist for Viaplay couldn't resist - and he even got an answer.
Virgil van Dijk's future
Van Dijk was answering questions for Viaplay after Liverpool beat Real Madrid 2-0 this week. He'd talked about all sorts - including not wanting to join Madrid next year.
One journalist took the chance to 'disobey' Liverpool's request, however, suggesting that Van Dijk being told not to talk about it was a sign.
“The club officially doesn’t allow me to ask you about the contract negotiations… But then I’m a bit like: one and one is two, right?" he said, via Soccer News.
“To be honest, no,” replied Van Dijk.
“There is no change at all, there is no update at all, there is no news for the outside world. So, I have nothing to share at all. There is nothing at all, it is all not true.”
Now, our information is that Van Dijk isn't telling the entire truth here. While there likely isn't a signed contract and an agreed deal, we do believe he's decided to stay with Liverpool.
However if nothing is yet signed, Van Dijk admitting that publicly would be negotiation suicide. It might be a little telling, though, that he decided to actually answer the banned question.
He sounds confident, if nothing else.
