Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold Liverpool contract talks REVEALED
Liverpool have enjoyed a brilliant boost in some of their biggest contract talks. Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold could yet stay.
Reports out of Egypt claim Liverpool are engaged in contract talks right now. There's no real surprise there - it would be pretty shocking if they weren't involved in any.
But it's the manner of the talks that really catches the eye. Liverpool have three stars they're looking to retain, after all, with Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold all on expiring deals.

They can agree on contracts with non-English teams from January 1st. That's under two months - scary, isn't it?
But Liverpool are clearly confident of securing new contracts for at least two of them.
Liverpool's contract talks
Yallakora reports that Liverpool are engaged in talks with Van Dijk and Alexander-Arnold. Importantly, they report that they're not talking with Salah.
The suggestion there is that Liverpool haven't had the impression that Salah is willing to sign a new contract. Unless they get that impression - and a go-ahead from the Egyptian - no talks will happen.
Thus they must have had that from the defensive pair.
It's a positive take on both of them, suggesting they are more likely to sign new contracts than not. It's, of course, an overwhelmingly negative sign on Salah (but let's focus on the positive here).
Van Dijk and Alexander-Arnold aren't just two of the best players at the club - and two of the best we've ever seen, for that matter - they're also the club's captain and vice-captain.
Retaining them would be an enormous win, especially with Alexander-Arnold. He still represents the future of Liverpool - if the Reds can get a deal over the line.
Fortunately, it appears they will.
