Video: Throwback to Virgil van Dijk's debut goal for Liverpool

Back in January 2018, Liverpool signed centre-back Virgil van Dijk from Southampton for a transfer fee of €84.65 million.

A week later, the Dutchman lined up for the Reds against Everton. As you can see in the footage below, Van Dijk scored the winning goal of the aforementioned third round FA Cup clash.

Anfield Watch Verdict

Van Dijk has proven to be a superb player for Liverpool. The Dutchman was named the runner-up for the 2019 Ballon d'Or, which highlights just how good he has been for the Reds at certain times.

There is no denying that Van Dijk is one of the best footballers that we have seen at Anfield in recent years.

Hopefully Van Dijk leads Liverpool's defence well into the future.
