Luis Diaz has opened the scoring for Liverpool against Brighton and Hove Albion despite being taken out by a reckless challenge from Brighton keeper Robert Sanchez.

Liverpool have struggled to get hold of the ball for the first 20 minutes of the first half against Brighton.

Graham Potter's side have been very direct and they've been penetrating Liverpool's backline on numerous occasions.

However, in the 19th minute, thanks to a great over the top ball by Joel Matip, Diaz was 1v1 with Brighton goalkeeper Robert Sanchez.

The Colombian nodded the ball past Sanchez to claim his second Liverpool goal since signing from FC Porto in January.

However, Diaz was clattered by the Brighton keeper and he had to receive treatment straight after scoring.

VAR took a look at the reckless challenge but they decided not to send Mike Dean over to the monitor to make his own decision.
