Video: Saudi Pro League shows off 'reunited' Liverpool legends
The Saudi Pro League showed off two 'reunited' Liverpool legends after a major meeting between their clubs. Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mané will forever be synonymous.
The Saudi Pro League saw Al-Ahli host Al-Nassr this week - a huge clash at the top of the table. Al-Nassr sit second, six points ahead of Al-Ahli. A win for the hosts would see them right on Al-Nassr's heels.
A Cristiano Ronaldo penalty was the difference between the two, however, as Al-Nassr won 1-0 and created a nine-point gap with their rivals. That leaves them somewhat isolated in the table - nine ahead of third but nine behind first-placed Al-Hilal.
But this was also a notable clash for another reason - two former Liverpool stars competing against one another. Roberto Firmino started for Al-Ahli, while Sadio Mané was in the Al-Nassr XI.
The pair reunited after the game, with the Saudi Pro League's Twitter posting it for fans to see. Music played over the top, meaning we can't be sure what they actually said to one another but the pair were in great spirits.
Liverpool greats in the Saudi Pro League
Liverpool saw an amazing number of their Champions League-winning side move to Saudi Arabia last year. Firmino and Mané were two of those, while Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, and Gini Wijnaldum joined teams, too.
Henderson, however, only lasted a few months before abandoning the project for Ajax.
And Liverpool could see more players move to Saudi Arabia in 2024. Mohamed Salah has been a major target for the league, with record bids put forward last year.
They're expected to return this year, too, as they attempt to put each of Liverpool's famed front three at the biggest clubs in the country. We could see a lot more videos like this to come, should the Saudi Pro League get its way.
