Fernando Torres was a superb player for Liverpool between 2007-11. The striker scored 81 goals in 142 appearances for the club's first-team.

However, come the 2011 January transfer window, Torres made it clear that he wanted to depart Liverpool and join Chelsea.

The Reds ended up selling the forward to the Blues for a transfer fee of €58.50 million. Former Red Jamie Carragher has stated that he could not believe that Chelsea forked out the aforementioned transfer fee for Torres.

The Scouser was under the impression that the Spaniard's best days were gone. Carragher was right in the end.

Torres only scored 45 goals in 172 appearances for Chelsea. The footage below is property of Sky Sports (06:11).
