Former Red Jamie Carragher has recently opened up on why he was an intense character during his playing days at Anfield.

The 43-year-old told the BBC's 'Tony Bellew Is Angry' podcast that he never wanted to lose his place in the side to another player. Carragher further added that he would not have accepted being a squad player at Liverpool.

The centre-back's mentality got him a long way. Between 1997-2013, Carragher made 737 appearances for the club's first-team.

The Scouser also won nine major trophies with the Reds.
