Van Dijk wants to stay

Virgil van Dijk has reportedly given Liverpool his final decision on a new contract. The Dutchman has one year left to run on his current deal.

HITC reports that Virgil van Dijk has communicated to Liverpool that he wants to sign a new contract. Van Dijk has just one year remaining on his current deal, allowing him to sign a pre-contract with someone from January 1st.

The report claims Van Dijk hasn't talked to any other clubs this summer and only wants to negotiate with Liverpool. That's despite strong interest from Saudi Arabia in the Liverpool captain.

Salah's Hollywood offer

One Liverpool star received an invite to play for a League One side in an interview with Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds. We don't expect Mohamed Salah to take the offer.

Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds gave an interview to the Premier League as part of their ongoing press tour this week. And would you know it, Mohamed Salah came up.

Jackman was essentially asked for his favourite player and said the Liverpool star. He then read a (presumably AI-generated) comparison between himself and Salah before making it clear he thought highly of the Egyptian.

UFC at Anfield?

Famous UFC fighter and scouser Paddy Pimblett has vowed to sell out Anfield for a live fight should it go ahead.

Pimblett is a well-known Liverpool fan who has always shown his support for the club but now he wants to take it that one step further.

He has already fought at Las Vegas in the USA multiple times but the pinnacle for him would be to showcase his talents at the home of the team he has loved all of his life.

Before has that chance though Pimblett has a big fight upcoming this weekend against American Bobby Green.

Mascherano rages at Olympic chaos

There was chaos at the Olympic games on Wednesday as a match descended into chaos. One former Liverpool player was caught in the middle of it all.

Javier Mascherano called Argentina's Olympic opener against Morocco "the biggest circus [he's] ever seen in [his] life" as his side lost 2-1 in Paris. It was a game like no other, really, as the North African side claimed a historic win.
