Darwin Nunez return date from injury shared in Uruguayan media
Reports in Uruguay have shared the return date for Darwin Nunez after the Liverpool striker was ruled out with an injury. The player will miss the March internationals.
Darwin Nunez will miss Uruguay's March internationals and hasn't travelled with the squad to Spain. Nunez injured his hamstring against Manchester United on Sunday and was therefore left out by his country.
It comes shortly after the striker's previous injury, one that led to him missing the Carabao Cup final. This time, however, it seems Liverpool have been lucky.
Nunez isn't expected to miss any Liverpool games, if reports from Uruguay are to be believed. El Observador claims he'll be back in time to face Brighton on March 31st - the Reds' next Premier League fixture.
Darwin Nunez to return from injury
Liverpool have had rotten luck with injuries this season and particularly in 2024. This is Nunez's second injury, of course, while Mohamed Salah, Dominik Szoboszlai, Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas have all returned from problems in the last few weeks.
And yet the Reds are still without several first-team stars. Alisson Becker, Diogo Jota, Curtis Jones and Trent Alexander-Arnold remain out and haven't played in weeks. Joel Matp is out for the season - and was ruled out months ago. Then there's Thiago, who has featured for only a few minutes across the campaign.
So when a player does pick up a problem, the natural reaction to it is to expect at least a few games out. Liverpool have been somewhat lucky that the international break is right now, as it not only gives Nunez time to recover but also allows for the other injured players to continue their rehab without missing games.
Fingers crossed, then, that this good fortune can spread to some others. Liverpool remain fighting on two fronts - the Premier League and Europa League - and winning either without a full squad will be tricky. Winning both feels downright impossible.
