Liverpool have less than 10 available first-team squad members currently
Liverpool currently have less than 10 first-team squad members available for selection thanks to a combination of injury, illness and international call-ups.
The likes of Thiago, Divock Origi and Takumi Minamino have all been carrying injuries for the last few weeks but things have really stepped up a notch in terms of missing faces thanks to covid.
Whilst Alisson, Joel Matip and Roberto Firmino were already isolating over last weekend for the game against Chelsea, along with manager Jurgen Klopp, a host of further players have tested positive in the days since, as well as assistant Pep Lijnders, and that has forced the EFL Cup game with Arsenal - due to take place tonight - to be postponed by a couple of weeks.
Certainly, things are far from ideal right now for the Reds with Mohamed Salah, Naby Keita and Sadio Mane all now missing too for the next few weeks as AFCON kicks off and, with Shrewsbury Town up next this weekend, it remains to be seen if more games are called off.

Anfield Watch Verdict
Down to the bare bones probably doesn't do the situation the Reds are in any justice as a description - things are pretty bleak at the moment.
Thankfully, the cup game with Arsenal was postponed and hopefully the isolation period the players are in will soon pass and we'll be back to some level of strength.
Injuries and illness happen but it's obviously been increased this year and the hope just has to be things will pass soon enough.
