Tyler Morton signs new long-term contract with Reds
Tyler Morton has signed a new long-term contract with Liverpool.
The 20-year-old, who is currently on loan at Blackburn Rovers for the 22/23 season, returned to the AXA training centre on Wednesday to seal his long-term contract with the club. Morton has played 28 times for high-flying Blackburn and recorded himself a singular assist in the Championship season, but is clearly a part of Jon Dahl Tomasson's side, as they push to return to the Premier League after an 11-year absence from the top-flight.
DELIGHT FOR MORTON
The 20-year-old is highly rated by Liverpool's academy, and the new long-term deal allows Morton to knuckle down and continue playing at the highest level. Along with Ben Doak, Leighton Clarkson and Stefan Bajcetic, Morton is regarded as one of the new exciting batch of Liverpool talent to come through the academy. Speaking to Liverpool.com on signing his long-term contract, Morton was delighted to get it done.
"I'm absolutely buzzing. The little dream is coming true, so I couldn't be happier.
"I've known for a little while and it's been ongoing, and I couldn't wait to get it over the line because this is the place I want to be and this is the club I want to be at. I'm absolutely buzzing and I can't wait for the future."
Happy with this one Reds fans?
ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT
I'm delighted for Tyler Morton. He's consistently getting first-team action at Blackburn which is a huge testament to his ability and commitment. Having already played a few first-team games for Liverpool as well, there is a player who has huge potential. The benefit of seeing the likes of Bajcetic, Doak, Clarkson and Morton kicking on is that they all have bright futures at this football club, and they will only continue to grow and get better.
