Trent Alexander-Arnold tells Liverpool to stop dropping points
Liverpool full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold has called on his fellow Reds players to make sure they do not drop any more points and be ready to capitalise if Manchester City do exactly that.
The weekend just gone in the Premier League saw both Liverpool and Chelsea take dents to their respective title challenges.
As Manchester City edged out Arsenal late on at the Emirates, the Reds and the Blues followed up by drawing at Stamford Bridge, leaving both to lose ground on the pace-setting Sky Blues at the top of the league.
Indeed, Liverpool have dropped points far too often this season and Alexander-Arnold has called on his teammates to cut it out:
“There’s not really much we can do except try to win as many games as we can between now and the end of the season," he told the official LFC site.
"We are just past the halfway point so a lot can happen between now and May.
“We make sure we focus on ourselves, make sure we stay as close to them as we can, but it will be difficult and we need teams to beat them for us.
“But it’s about us making sure we are in a position to capitalise if they do drop points.”
Anfield Watch Verdict
Trent is right, all the Reds can do is win as many games as possible and just be ready to capitalise on any slip-ups that City make, if and when they do exactly that.
The men from the Etihad are looking very strong at the moment and have found momentum when the Reds and Chelsea have stumbled, meaning a big gap has opened up in the title race.
City have slipped up at points this year, though, and so hopefully there are more twists to come in this title race yet.
