Trent Alexander-Arnold shares 'surprisingly easy' task at Liverpool

Trent Alexander-Arnold says the current plan at Liverpool is 'surprisingly easy'. The Reds are chasing four trophies this season.

Trent Alexander-Arnold gave an interview to CNN this week where he talked about Liverpool's objectives for the rest of the season. One stands above all - the right-back wants four trophies.

The Reds are chasing a quadruple right now and doing it well. They're top of the Premier League, into the Carabao Cup final and are right among the favourites in both the FA Cup and the UEFA Europa League.

But part of chasing those trophies is a planned mentality. Liverpool need to take things one game at a time, avoiding any thoughts of 'bigger' games to come.

How easy is that, though? Alexander-Arnold had that question put to him by CNN's Darren Lewis.

"It's surprisingly easy [to put the final into the back of his mind]," he said. "It is, it's surprisingly easy. I always think because at this time, every game is almost like a final now.

"A certain other team looks like they're clicking into gear, which means [the Premier League] is going to go down to the wire, as usual. Which means every game is a must-win, simple as that.

"And that's the way you want it. You want to get pushed and push yourself as hard as you can, and test yourself to the limit. So every single game is a must-win and even a draw feels like a loss no matter the context of it."

It feels safe to assume that the 'certain other team' is Manchester City, who are clawing back point from Liverpool at the top of the table. These are the only two teams with the title in their own hands, in fact.

City can go to the top of the pile by winning their games in hand. Liverpool, however, know that beating City at Anfield would take top spot back - if they're within three points by the time that comes around.

However, the Reds won't be thinking about that right now. Nor will they think about the Carabao Cup final. Burnley on Saturday are up next - and that's the entire focus at Anfield.
