Trent Alexander-Arnold reflects on his match-winning goal against Fulham

Trent Alexander-Arnold has reflected on his match-winning goal in a 4-3 victory over Fulham on Sunday afternoon, with the defender's late strike sealing a crucial win for the Reds.

Alexander-Arnold was unfortunate not to have had a goal earlier in the match, his free-kick thundering off the crossbar and clipping Fulham goalkeeper Bernd Leno on its way in after 20 minutes.

Alexis Mac Allister's stunner had put Liverpool back ahead after Harry Wilson's equaliser, with Kenny Tete levelling before the break for the visitors.

Bobby Decordova-Reid had headed the Cottagers back in front at Anfield, but late efforts from Wataru Endo and then Alexander-Arnold sealed a memorable comeback for the Reds with two minutes to play.

Alexander-Arnold's 88th-minute goal was incredibly well-taken, the ball dropping to him on the edge of the area before he struck it fiercely beyond Leno.

Reflecting on his winner, the right-back said: "I anticipated where the ball was going to drop and thought just get it down, get a shot off and try to hit the target.

"I had one a bit earlier where I was disappointed with a volley in a similar area. I just wanted to hit the target and use the bodies in the box as an advantage.

"It found a way into the back of the net, and you can see by the celebration how much it meant."

It's the second successive weekend that Alexander-Arnold has found the back of the net, the 25-year-old bagging a late equaliser against Manchester City after the international break.

However, this one proved to be the winner for the Reds, who took advantage of dropped points by Aston Villa and moved themselves within touching distance of Arsenal at the top of the table.

Alexander-Arnold was Liverpool's man of the match at Anfield against Fulham and was a constant threat to the visiting backline in another pivotal display.
