Trent Alexander-Arnold is reportedly very impressed with Arne Slot this season after working closely with the new Liverpool head coach. The Dutchman's attention to detail, in particular, has stood out to Alexander-Arnold.

"He has been impressed by the head coach’s attention to detail, with the pair holding regular one-to-one meetings to forensically analyse his game and discuss the positives and negatives of his performances.

"Alexander-Arnold is keen to receive constructive feedback and Slot has not refrained from dropping in minor criticisms when speaking to the media.”

Alexander-Arnold under Arne Slot

This is another little 'clue' to Alexander-Arnold enjoying the Arne Slot experience. Just this week, he talked at length about his change in position under the new head coach.

A dig into the data shows it's working, too. Alexander-Arnold's game is a little more varied, with the Scouser picking up the ball in different positions game to game.

That's a conscious move - Slot wants him to change things up depending on the opposition press. So while Alexander-Arnold isn't quite creating as much as he used to, he's actually a better quality of chance.

His expected assists this season are pretty normal for him, even if there are fewer overall chances created.

The great hope?

Alexander-Arnold has made it perfectly clear that he wants to move up a level in football. He's chasing trophies and he's chasing individual recognition - Liverpool must make it known to him that he can achieve it all at Anfield.

His contract expires in June, after all, and Real Madrid are interested. He'll certainly win trophies there - and potentially find himself in contention for the major individual awards.

But if he feels as though Slot can improve him more as a player and that he can reach his potential under him, the chances of Alexander-Arnold remaining at Liverpool skyrocket. We think there's a lot of hope coming out of this.
