Trent Alexander-Arnold contract talks take ANOTHER twist as Liverpool set timeline
Liverpool's contract talks with Trent Alexander-Arnold have taken another twist, per multiple reports. The Reds have a timeline set.
Both DaveOCKop and GiveMeSport claim that Trent Alexander-Arnold and Liverpool are confident of an agreement soon. The two parties are engaged in contract talks, with the Scouser's deal expiring in June.
It means Alexander-Arnold can agree a pre-contract with a non-English club from January 1st. Real Madrid are strongly linked with a move and a report from Marca this week suggested they were on the verge of doing just that.
In fact, that report went as far as claiming that Liverpool knew that Alexander-Arnold wouldn't sign a new deal. Their decision was supposedly just whether to hold onto him until the end of the campaign or sell in the winter.

But now these new claims suggest that's not true. Instead, both the Reds and their vice-captain are progressing well on a deal - and Liverpool even have a timeline in mind.
Liverpool set Alexander-Arnold timeline
GiveMeSport's report suggests that Liverpool are confident of a verbal agreement by the next international break. That comes next month, meaning things could progress quickly.
It would also be the perfect time to get that agreement, as the closer we get to January, the greater the pressure will be. It'll be absolutely intense if we're nearing Christmas and no agreement is in place.
Because Liverpool are in the middle of a big one here. Alexander-Arnold isn't just one of the club's best players but he's someone who is supposed to be around long-term. He's supposed to be the face of the club going forward.
Losing him to Real Madrid would be devastating, not just for football reasons but the whole image of the club would be damaged. Fortunately, it sounds as though Liverpool are going to get the deal done.
Doing so would be a signal of intent and the biggest win yet for new sporting director Richard Hughes.
