This was always going to be a tough game for the Reds with Tottenham having pulled off some strong results already this season.

However, it did not end up proving to be the case with Liverpool dismantling Spurs from the beginning of the game and pulling off a remarkable result that only confirms their status as the current best team in the country.
It also means Slot's side will be comfortably sitting at the top of the Premier League table at Christmas, giving fans all over the world the best present possible
Here's what you might have missed from the game.
Szoboszlai involved in four goals but gets just one assist
This was probably one of the best performances produced by the Hungarian in a Liverpool shirt. Szoboszlai was involved in four of Liverpool's goals scoring and registering an assist.
But it's the assist he did not get that you might have missed. Initially is seemed like the Reds' no.8 provided the header that led to Alexis Mac Allister's goal for Liverpool's second goal.
However, it turned that the ball actually came off a Tottenham defender.
Meanwhile, it was the Hungarian's shot for Salah's first goal that was blocked on the line by a Tottenham defender before the Egyptian buried it into the back of the net.
Salah makes history
Another game, another day when Salah writes history. The Egyptian was a little 'late' to get involved with the goals but in the end he not only scored twice but also got himself an assist.
It's the assist that's most significant from a personal point of view for Salah because it means he has reached 10 assists for the season.
Getting that 10th assist right before Christmas puts Salah on a unique list, well more specifically in a league of his own.
He is the first Premier League player to reach double figures for both goals and assists before Christmas.
Another one for the record books.
Salah overtakes Haaland and sends another FSG reminder
Salah's brace has also put him in good company with the Egyptian overtaking Erling Haaland in the Premier League top-scorer race.
As City have struggled, the Norwegian's goal-scoring spree has dried up which means Salah has taken ascendancy and is now the leader in the top-scoring charts with 15 goals, two more than Haaland.
Yet another achievement that marks him out as one of the best players in the league. Perhaps not just that but as one of the best players in the world.
And it's also another reminder that a contract extension is an absolute necessity. Liverpool cannot allow him to leave at the end of this season.
Luis Diaz scores for the first time in the league since...
Diaz has had a bit of a dry spell in front of goal in the league at least. He has got on the scoresheet in other competitions, but it has been since September that the Colombian has last scored in the league.
It was a bold choice to persist with him in the no.9 role by Slot but it paid off in the end with Diaz grabbing the all important first goal of the game.
And then when Tottenham looked like they were going to crawl back into the game, Diaz came up clutch again with a brilliant finish to get Liverpool's sixth.
