Spurs & Man Utd interested in Andre – Where Liverpool stand in transfer race

Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United are the latest Premier League clubs to be linked with Fluminense midfielder Andre Trindade.

The 22-year-old was famously a Liverpool target during the summer transfer window, as Jurgen Klopp oversaw a comprehensive midfield rebuild.

However, Fluminense refused to entertain offers for their star man while their season was ongoing.

The Rio-based club have since gone on to win the Copa Libertadores (South America's equivalent of the Champions League), while Andre has been promised a move in the January transfer window when the Brazilian domestic campaign draws to a close.

The Reds are far from the only club linked with the Brazil international, though, with Fulham, West Ham and Arsenal all named as possible suitors in recent weeks.

Now talkSPORT add Spurs to the list of interested clubs, with manager Ange Postecoglou 'willing to part ways with Pierre Emile-Hojbjerg' in order to free up space for a deal.

Meanwhile, Football Transfers report that Manchester United, as well as Spurs, are also in the mix for Andre, with Erik ten Hag seeking midfield reinforcements after a limp start to the season.

It is said that the Red Devils' level of interest hinges on Casemiro's future, with the veteran Brazilian possibly being lined up for a move to Saudi Arabia.

Where do Liverpool stand on Andre?

Both clubs, it seems, would need to sell in order to be able to buy – a situation that may give Liverpool an advantage.

Anfield Watch has previously reported that amid the many clubs taking an interest in Andre, Liverpool are still in a good position to obtain his signature, if they want it.

After establishing good relations with both the player and his club in the summer, the Reds have priority for a January deal ahead of other suitors. However, whether they are still seriously interested in the transfer is another matter.

The Reds completed the signings of Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo and Ryan Gravenberch during the summer window and there have been various reports that the club are not on the lookout for another specialist 'number six', preferring to keep faith in the existing options – with Thiago and Stefan Bajcetic still to return from injury.

Anfield Watch understands that defence will be the recruitment priority for Liverpool in 2024. However, versatile Genoa midfielder Morten Frendrup is one player the club has been monitoring who can operate in a variety of positions.
