"Top of the list" - Former Liverpool player rates Andy Robertson amongst other left-backs

Former Liverpool left-back Fabio Aurelio has given his thoughts on Andy Robertson and where he ranks among the best players of all-time in that position.

Despite only joining Liverpool in 2017, Robertson has already established himself as an all-time great at left-back.

It's very hard to argue that the Scottish international hasn't been the best left-back in world football for four years and his trophy haul and personal numbers back that point up.

Speaking about the best left-backs of all-time, former Liverpool player Fabio Aurelio was asked where Robertson ranks in terms of some of the best left-backs he's seen.

"I’ve seen a few great left-backs during my career – some very strong defensively, some much more offensive. But if you look at the whole full-back role, he is complete in defence, in attack, he can score goals, he has pace, he has stamina, he is aggressive," said Aurelio.

"So, he has to be at the top of the list, you can’t say different than that. His numbers talk for themselves."

To be in the same bracket as Paolo Maldini, Ashley Cole, Roberto Carlos and other great left-backs is proof of how good Robertson has been since signing for Reds.

There is no doubt in my mind that when he retires he will be rated as the best left-back in Premier League history.

You can also make a strong argument that even now he is the best left-back to ever play in the league.

Even though he has only played 211 games in the Premier League, Robbo is second in the all-time assists charts for a full-back with 49 goals created. Number one is Leighton Baines who played 420 games and achieved 53 assists.

With Robertson only being 28-years-old, he is going to obliterate this record, along with Trent Alexander-Arnold. The pair could realistically double or even triple that number when they finish their careers in the Premier League.
