"Timeframe" - Jurgen Klopp provides an injury update on Thiago
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has provided an injury update on Reds midfielder Thiago Alcantara.
The Spaniard suffered a hamstring injury against Fulham at Craven Cottage last weekend. Klopp said that Thiago will be out of action for four to six weeks.
As quoted by Anfield Watch on Twitter, he said the following during his most recent press conference: “(Thiago is) good but the injury is not.
“Timeframe? I read 4-6 weeks! I would prefer 4! We’ll see.”
Anfield Watch Verdict
Liverpool signed Thiago from Bayern Munich for a transfer fee of £19.80 million back in the summer of 2020.
The midfielder has suffered a number of injuries since joining the club. Thiago has only made 71 appearances for the Reds' first-team as a result.
So, it's incredibly frustrating to hear that the Spaniard will be out of action for at least a month.
Thiago is an incredible player. He has the ability to dictate the tempo of a football match. Reds boss Jurgen Klopp said the following about Thiago back in May.
“When Thiago is in the shape he’s in now, he would play for any team in the world and that is Spain as well," he said, as quoted by The Empire of the Kop.
“They are an incredibly talented team but the shape he’s in, he’d play for every national team. Thiago needs to be fit and gain rhythm and he can show his best form."
But, we just haven't seen enough of Thiago at Anfield. Hopefully the midfielder has a bit more luck with his body going forward.
It's a long season, so there is no point in rushing Thiago back.
