"Those are false rumours" - Sadio Mane's agent shuts down rumour

Sadio Mane's PR agent has claimed that the rumours around his client leaving Liverpool for more money are "false".

Speaking to TV5MONDE, as cited by iMiaSanMia's Twitter account, Bacary Cisse denied rumours of the forward leaving Anfield due to his 'low wages'.

"Those are false rumours. We didn't want to talk about that. A player of Sadio's calibre can't be earning the salary that people are speaking about. The numbers circulating are completely wrong," he said.

"Sadio was already earning more than that when he joined Liverpool from Southampton. He extended his contract in 2018 and his salary was much higher than the numbers circulating in the media."

Cisse further added that the main reason why Mane left was because he wanted a new challenge.

"I think Sadio chose the right club at the right time," he said.

"He won everything with Liverpool and it was time to seek a new challenge elsewhere. Bayern's project was very attractive."

Anfield Watch Verdict

They can deny it all they want but part of Mane leaving Liverpool was because he wasn't getting the £400k per week he was reportedly asking for.

There is nothing wrong with that either. Mane is 30 years of age and this will most likely be his last big contract.

The Senegalese forward will reportedly be earning a healthy weekly wage of £360k per week at Bayern Munich.

Unfortunately, as we know, Liverpool aren't in a position to offer him that amount of money and it's definitely a shame to see him go, but you can't blame the Reds for letting him leave.

That wage also means that Mane can put more money into his childhood town of Bambali in Senegal. He has already built a hospital, schools and homes there, so he'll definitely be able to do a lot of good with the money he's earning in Germany.

It's a shame to see Mane go, but that's football for you.
