Thomas Tuchel's stance in race for the Liverpool job explained

Thomas Tuchel already has a stance on his future as talk of Liverpool crops up. The German will leave Bayern Munich this summer.

The Telegraph has reported on Thomas Tuchel as the German prepares for his next managerial job. Tuchel will leave Bayern Munich at the end of the season after a disappointing campaign.

Bayern have won the title every year since 2013 but currently sit eight points behind Bayer Leverkusen. On top of that, they lost the first leg of their Champions League knockout round against Lazio.

Thus the club decided to part ways with Tuchel - but only after the season.

Their primary target is now Xabi Alonso, the favourite to take over at Liverpool. Jurgen Klopp will step down at Anfield after this campaign, of course.

But now Tuchel will inevitably find himself in the mix of Liverpool's search. Especially as hiring Alonso just got a little bit more difficult with Bayern's competition.

And the Telegraph claim that Tuchel will be aiming for a job in the Premier League next. He's eager to return to England and, of course, knows that Liverpool are in the market for a new manager.

Whether Liverpool end up approaching Tuchel, though, isn't clear. They're strongly linked with Alonso and while they'll certainly talk with other managers before hiring, it does feel like everyone else's chances depend on the Spaniard rejecting an offer.

But that's become a lot more likely now that Bayern are in the mix. They're a massive club and one of the few others that Alonso actively wants to manage.

We do believe that Liverpool have a stronger position when it comes to hiring Alonso, though. Still, there's every chance that he will reject both offers and remain with Leverkusen.

If that happens, Tuchel will feel he has a strong case to be Liverpool's boss as one of the most experienced managers on the shortlist.
