"This won’t happen" - Reported Liverpool target opens up on future
Ajax midfielder and reported Liverpool target Ryan Gravenberch has recently been speaking about his future.
The 19-year-old has been linked with a move to several clubs, but he is unsure if he will leave the Eredivisie club this summer.
However, Gravenberch, who's contract expires in June 2023, did make it clear that he would not leave Ajax on a free transfer if the opportunity did arise.
As quoted by journalist Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, the Netherlands international told ADnl the following: “I don't know if I will leave in the summer. "What I do know for sure is that I won't leave Ajax if they don't get anything back. I can't leave on a free transfer. This won't happen."Anfield Watch Verdict
Gravenberch is a talented footballer. The midfielder has found the back of the net 10 times and registered 11 assists in 91 appearances for Ajax's first-team.
Gravenberch has also been averaging a WhoScored player rating of 7.29 across the 2021-22 campaign.
Ajax manager Erik ten Hag has had plenty of positive things to say about the 19-year-old in the past.
As quoted by the Liverpool Echo, the 52-year-old said the following back in November 2020: “He has a lot of capacities, especially in an attacking sense … but he also comes to understand ‘that other work’ better and better.
“He is developing partly on the basis of Davy Klaassen, Daley Blind and Dusan Tadic.
“For him, it is becoming increasingly clear what top football entails. That is looking less at yourself, but above all putting yourself at the service of the team.
“If you are in a first team, the youth has to get out, he has taken big steps there lately.”
The aforementioned figures/comments highlight that Gravenberch possesses quality. Therefore, we would not be against Liverpool making a move for the 19-year-old in the near future.
Also, due to Gravenberch's age, he still has plenty of room for growth as a footballer. The midfielder possesses a current market value of €35 million.
