Liverpool midfielder Fabinho has given his thoughts on the club's upcoming last-16 Champions League clash.

The first leg of the tie will take place at the San Siro on Wednesday night. The Brazil international believes that the Reds will have to be at their best to progress to the quarter-finals of Europe's elite competition.

Fabinho made it clear that Liverpool are facing the best side in Italy.

As quoted by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, Fabinho told the Liverpool Echo the following: “This will be a really tough game. Inter right now is the best Italian team, that's why they are up near the top in the league. They play good, they are a strong team. They play together maybe four or five seasons, some players.

"We have two to three days to prepare for this game and hopefully go to Milan and have a good result in a nice stadium."

Anfield Watch Verdict

Fabinho is spot on in his assessment of Inter Milan. There is a reason why they sit in second-place on the Serie A table.

Inter Milan are one point behind AC Milan, but they do have a game in hand.

Liverpool will have to be at it if they are to progress to the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

In saying that, we are confident that the Reds can defeat Inter Milan over two legs. The reality is, Liverpool recently won the Champions League (2019). This current Reds side knows how to handle the big occasions.

But, Liverpool still have to go out there and do the business. We can't wait to watch the Reds in Europe again.

Champions League football is the best standard of football after all. The second leg between the Reds and Inter Milan will take place at Anfield on the 8th of March.
