Thierry Henry made a joke a the expense of Jamie Carragher, claiming his fellow pundit is better behaved when Liverpool aren't in the Champions League.

While Liverpool could yet end the season with a European crown and have the chance to sign off Jurgen Klopp's tenure as Europa League winners, this season marks the first time since 2016 that the Reds have not been in the Champions League.

Liverpool finished the 2022/23 campaign fifth in the Premier League outside the Champions League qualification spots after a disappointing season that preceded a much-needed midfield makeover.

The resulting absence of Liverpool from Europe's top competition this term has felt strange, while the renewed strength of Klopp's title-chasing Reds in 2023/24 only highlights a missed opportunity.

One man who is not missing Liverpool from the Champions League, however, is former Arsenal striker Henry.

The CBS pundit is likely backing his old club Arsenal for glory but is happy not to have deal with Liverpool legend Carragher's fan antics with the Reds out of the picture.

During the coverage of Wednesday's quarter-final clashes between Paris Saint-Germain vs Barcelona and Atletico Madrid vs Borussia Dortmund, he joked: "It's actually better when Liverpool are not in the Champions League.

"He [Carragher] behaves, he's a bit more relaxed, there's less screaming."

To which Carragher interjected: "I don't have to worry. The worry starts tomorrow."

When asked by host Kate Abdo if he wanted to switch over duties and cover the Europa League, Carragher replied: "I'll do the final."

While Henry claims that Carragher has been more subdued without Liverpool in the running, the former defender is still getting his own cheeky digs in where he can.

Going through his tournament predictions, Carragher named Manchester City as his overall winners referring to Pep Guardiola's side as "the club with 115 charges".
