"They need to adapt" - Dejan Lovren on Liverpool's summer signings
Former Liverpool centre-back Dejan Lovren has given his verdict on the club's 2022 summer signings.
The Reds secured the signatures of Darwin Nunez, Fabio Carvalho and Calvin Ramsay.
We are yet to see Ramsay play for Liverpool's first-team due to an injury. However, Nunez and Carvalho have represented the Reds' senior side.
Both players have shown glimpses of what they are capable of. But, Lovren has made it clear that he wants to see more from the summer signings.
“We will see how the story with Liverpool will unfold, whether they are just in a bad period or if the story will go down. They have to go back to the Liverpool they used to be,” he told Sportske, as quoted by Sport Witness.
“The Premiership is a very tough league. Some new players came to Liverpool, they need to adapt.”
Anfield Watch Verdict
We can see where Lovren is coming from. But, the reality is, some players need time to settle into their new environment.
Nunez, who is a striker, has found the back of the net twice and registered one assist in six appearances for Liverpool's first-team.
Carvalho on the other hand has looked bright in midfield. The attacking midfielder has scored two goals in eight appearances.
So, as we have already pointed out, two of the three summer signings have shown glimpses of what they can do.
As time progresses, we are confident that we will see the best of Nunez, Carvalho and Ramsay on a more consistent basis.
All the aforementioned players are under the age of 23, so they have plenty of time up their sleeves.
